THE MOST GENEROUS DONATION

I want to take a moment of your time for you to read how God works. Two years ago, while taking care of Saba and Emery, I found out that I would not be their nanny anymore. I had grown very close to the entire family and decided I did not want to leave another family (this was my third nanny family) It is very hard to leave children with whom you spend everyday, especially after such a long time. I sat down at my computer perplexed as to what I should do with my life. I checked into all sorts of things and after many nights without sleep and crying at my computer screen I decided to stay a nanny. Even though deep down I knew that in order for my life to change I could not keep doing the same thing. Making the decision to stay a nanny may not have been the right one, but it is the choice I made none the less. I had found a woman online who was a traveling nanny and decided to contact her to see if she had any excess work that she would be willing to send my way. She informed me of a young woman in South Carolina that was working as a nanny who needed a second nanny for her family. The job situation did not work out due to timing on my behalf and so I ended up finding a local family. It was during this position that I recalled my desire to help Ethiopia, a desire I had from childhood. I started doing research and you know it is amazing how a decision made in one second can change your life and suddenly break an old routine and set you off on a different path (the one I am meant to be on) The only question is having the courage to make the change. It has been a rough two years but I have become more dependant on God than ever before and for that I am truly grateful. The young woman in South Carolina and I did not end up working together but something better happened, Tonya and I have become friends. We have spent countless hours on the phone encouraging one another and listening to each other. She has come to Chicago to visit me and one day I will go to South Carolina. In recent weeks Tonya started dating a man named Jeff Verkon and he sounds like a wonderful man. On Wednesday evening she told him about what I am doing and gave him my blog address to read all about it. When I got home from work Thursday morning there were two messages from Tonya the second one telling me to check my blog. I grabbed the phone and went to my computer to discover Jeff had donated $4,500.00 to this mission. He has e mailed me to tell me that he has been blessed and his money is God's money!!! Here is a man whom I have never met and had I not gone through that struggle at my computer two years ago I never would have met Tonya - fate? I think not. God truly has His hand on this and the goal of November no longer seems unattainable.
