I have begun to pack and what a task it is going to be. I have so much to take and such limited space. Thank you to everyone who participated in donating travel sized products. I have six two gallon bags full!!!! Please do not send any more as I am out of space!!! I recently found out from Weini (my contact in Ethiopia) that the care home is in need of underwear and socks. This past weekend was one of my favorite rummage sales. Since I was not going to be here for the bag sale on Sunday I headed over on Friday night. I have never seen so many underwear at a rummage sale in my life. I filled up a large basket with socks and underwear. I went to the front to talk to the person in charge about getting a bulk price. Once I explained it all to her she was more than happy to give me a bulk price. When I got home and counted how many items I had it should have cost me $44.00 but I paid $25.00!!!! She also told me to come back next Saturday when it is all over and I can have what is left!!!! The only unfortunate part is I am not sure I will have room for more. I can bring two suitcases up to 50 pounds each. I currently have two suitcases and a bin plus many items to still squeeze in. Please pray that Monica, a friend of mine who works for United, is able to work that evening as she will check my third bag in otherwise it will be an additional $250.00. There is also a charge of $125.00 per bag if it weighs between 51 and 70 pounds. So I am looking at a possible cost of $500.00!!! Currently my bags do not even have clothes for me in them and there is enough space for me to roll the items I need but the weight is what I am concerned about. This is only a dilemma going as I will leave most of what I am taking there including the bin. I have ten vacuum seal bags full of clothes to donate as well as candies and bubbles. It all adds up quickly and I am sure I have exceeded the weight.
This past weekend I received $340.00 in donations from my family, thank you everyone who gave and came to dinner to see my off, it meant a lot to me to see all of you before I go. I am getting closer to my goal of $5000.00 to take with me to continue to be able to help in Ethiopia. There are still almost two weeks left please continue to pray that all the needed funds will come in as well as getting through check in and customs at all the airports. My bags look like I am going to set up shop somewhere but really I am just trying to help.
I sent my passport off last week to get my visa and I should receive it by the end of the week.
Thank you so much for all of your continued support and God bless you.
