I wanted to tell you about some of the children at the care home, I do not have photos yet but want to take some this week. Not sure about downloading yet. I will take photos this week and then my last week to see how much they have grown.
Nunu - she is a 16 year old young lady who "has made a huge mistake" her and her sister were adopted four years ago to Austria and after about a year and a half she wanted to come back, she really missed her friends. So they allowed her to come back but her sister (who is two years older) stayed. Now all of her friends have been adopted out and she is stuck in the walls of the care home. She comes most afternoons to the babies to hold them. She is really sweet but she misses her sister. I told her they should not have allowed a child to make that choice and she should never have come back. She thanked me because she has been blaming herself all this time.
Maria - she is about one years old (judging from her teeth) and quite the drama queen. She has been here since birth and will be going to America shortly along with twin 13 year old brothers. They are being adopted by a former Projects Abroad volunteer. Maria and I had her taking steps between us the other day and we clapped for her. After a bit the worker joined in cheering for her. I want her to walk so she can leave the baby room and go with the toddlers where she belongs. In the baby room she is in a crib a lot. Everyone loves her a bit to much sometimes and she often gets her way. She is spoiled.
Dogavit - I want to bring her home. She has only been here for two weeks. Get some tissue for her story. Her mom is dying so she put her out of the house, some neighbors found her and brought her here. She is in culture shock. To go from your home to this has shocked her. The other day she was so tired. She came over to me and I picked her up and started rocking her. She started humming. I bet her mom used to sing to her. I joined in her humming. I imagine she probably slept with her mom and now she is in a crib. The shoes she wears are to big and she scuffles along, I always make sure they are tied or she clomps out of them. She is so sweet.
Elsa - She is 5 years old and has hydrocephalus she spends almost all of her life in a crib and one of the volunteers said they are just waiting for her to die (her introduction to Elsa) she did have and adoptive family as a baby but once they put the shunt in she became unable to fly so her head is so swollen, please pray for her.
Emmanuel, Philipos and Biennium - they are all being adopted to Ireland and Emmanuel leaves on Tuesday, his mom, dad and three year old sister are currently here with him.
Yidick - He is about six weeks old, he was born of a Muslim woman who was talked out of having an abortion. He was kept with someone for three weeks before coming here. I call him warrior because he has a very tribal look, one of the other volunteers calls him chocolate because he is so dark.
