VOLUTEERS
There are a lot of volunteers at Kidane most of which have never worked with children and are fine with how things are. I keep praying about being okay with it all but I just cannot. We got a new volunteer this week who comes each year for the past five years. She is here for three months!!! First she had three toddlers standing on a bench jumping, I explained to her that they should not do that as they will try it when there is no grown up around, she ignored me. Later when one of the babies was crying she stood next to the mattress on the floor, bent over and held the bottle in the babies mouth for over fifteen minutes, does it not dawn on these people to pick the babies up. When I spoke to her about these things she said I need to realize I am in Africa and leave it alone. Well Ethiopia is a DEVELOPING country and they want information they do not have access to. The third thing was she was holding a baby in a sitting position on her lap talking away to another volunteer. The bottle was being held by both her and the baby but against his chest so he was not getting any milk. I told her he needs his bottle tipped to get milk and what did I get rolled eyes and a quick turn of the head. The next day after I came in a said my good mornings she left the playroom and I never saw her the rest of the day. People pray for me with help like this it is no wonder it is so crazy and by the way she is in her mid fifties. I did ask her if she had children and she said no but that all woman can do this kind of work it is in all of us - ugh!!!
