A NEW DAY AT KIDANE

The weekend was quite uneventful and quite with my two other house mates on a holiday. I was treated very well and was given eggs three times!!! The real news is what is happening at Kidane. On Monday I arrived with a bottle of bleach and a toothbrush ready to tackle the filthy toys. As I approached the building I saw sister Ludgarda and asked her if today was a good day to clean, she wanted to check with sister Camilla. I did not do it last Friday as I was unsure of what would happen over the weekend so I waited until Monday. I was given the all clear to clean and taken into a bathroom across from the infant nursery to begin my work. I brought all of the bags of toys out of the playroom and for the next five and a half hours disinfected everything. I also sorted out the broken and unsafe toys. Once I was underway and the children were in their rooms for nap Vanessa, Kaja, and Dawn washed the playroom walls, floor and shelves. It was funny because after about an hour sister Camilla kept telling me to leave it because she was worried I was working to hard (are you kidding me? I finally feel like I am working) The toys were laid out on sheets in the playroom to dry and I went for a quick lunch break. After lunch I came back and organized everything and set up some toys for when the children arrived. I have never seen them so happy. We have to work on sharing and playing properly. Since the toys are basically taboo they just horde them and do not really play but that will change my friends. I went home feeling like I have finally started to do something here.
