SECOND FLIGHT

My second flight was much better. I was unaware that we would be stopping in Jordan but it worked out well. While sitting in London I prayed I would have a row to myself but knew that was quite selfish so prayed for more space. I ended up have a seat between myself and a nice man name Mekal. Once in Jordan most of the people deboarded and only on got on so I did end up with a row to myself for four hours!!! God is great!!! During our stop I meet a woman who has been living in Ethiopia for two years, she is from Trinidad, she gave me her phone number if I wanted to get together.

Once at the airport it was time for customs. I filled out the paperwork and got my passport stamped in under ten minutes. Then it was time for baggage claim and inspection. My bags were all on the converyer belt as I headed toward its!! Hooray and there was even a very nice gentleman, the angel I prayed for, who helped me get my bags off and onto the cart. All of my bags went through and the only thing they checked was my backpack to see if my video camera was professional. Hallelujah!!!

Ethiopia was very dark when I got here so I could not see much except lots of people walking around and lots of people sleeping on the sidewalk.

We went to the Projects Abroad office so I could sleep for a few hours before my induction. I did not sleep to well because there are a lot of dogs barking, roosters crowing and things running on the roof!!!

I was taken around today to see many things. First I had breakfast, my first Ehiopian food. I do not remember what it was called but it was some type of crepe with scrambled eggs and honey. It was very tasty but very sticky. We then drove around for about an hour after which I was told it was lunch time. I was not really hunger but that was not understood so more food. This time it was injera and some kind of lamb, way to hot for me so I had pizza and mango juice. Then more driving around and off to the Ethiopia museum - very interesting but I was so tired I will have to go back to enjoy it fully. Then we went back to get my stuff so I could go to my host family. They are lovely plus there are four other volunteers staying here who are wonderful and so helpful.

I will post more this weekend if I get back to the internet cafe. I must get home for dinner now.
