New years in Ethiopia turned out to be great. I had been sick the night before with a fever of 102.8 so stayed home on New Years Eve (there are HIV children and I do not want to get them sick) We had planned to go to the Sheraton for a party that was serving barbecue. It turned out to be stir fry but the vegetables were nice and crunchy!!! There was a DJ there and dancing. The best part was if you attended the party you could stay in the hotel for one hundred dollars. After a long time making a decision Emma and I decided to stay and let me tell you it was the best fifty dollars I have spent here. Not only did we get to stay in clean white linens and have a large flat screen television there was a bathtub!!!! We took a taxi home to get our stuff and by the time we got back it was about three in the morning. We went straight to sleep, after eating the chocolate on our pillows. In the morning I took an amazing bubble bath. The water was so filthy I could not see my hand after about half an inch. I must have shed a layer of skin as well. I then took a long hot shower - bliss!!!! We then had a great breakfast and headed home in the afternoon. All in all a great way to start the new year.
On new year day we went with Projects Abroad to a traditional restaurant and saw the dancing again, it is amazing to watch but I think the two times I have gone is enough for me:)
