GOOD BYE DINNER WITH FAMILY

On Tuesday night I had my final dinner with my host family. I had it a night early as I decided some of the friends I made here were my family and wanted to spend my last night with them. They also came to this dinner as did my host family, the host mothers two sisters and their families, Tole and Chaltu, the director of Projects Abroad and two new volunteers (yes we got new volunteers on Monday, not impressed) Dinner was an interesting feast. We had some Ethiopian food including tibs, my favorite, mashed potatoes mixed with corn and topped with strawberries (yes you read that correctly), pasta, rice, pancakes, bread, green beans, carrots, avocado/tomato salad and some other things.

After dinner we had a coffee ceremony. I gave gifts to all of the family and cried when I was presented with my dress. Each volunteer is given a traditional dress when they leave. Mine has purple!!! I also received gifts from the other two families, scarves and jewelry. It was a nice evening but tomorrow will be the hardest.
